Selections from the Langford Resort Hotel Series,
Winter Park, Florida, 2000
The charming resort hotel in Winter Park, Florida opened in 1956, the year I was born in Switzerland. After 44 years of operation by the Langford family, the hotel permanently closed its doors and was demolished in the year 2000. The family granted me the permission to have unlimited access to photograph during the last several weeks the hotel was in operation. The demolition was supposed to make room for the construction of a new luxury hotel. After several years of delays, Rollins College purchased the property and constructed the beautiful Alfond Inn, which is known nationally as the hotel with the extensive collection of contemporary art. Among other works from my archive, the Rollins Museum of Art purchased four of my archival Langford images for their prestigious Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art.
