The Other Florida: Historic Places, Small Towns, and Diverse Communities, 1994-2019
I immigrated to the United States from Switzerland in 1978. I am a proud citizen of both countries. As a documentary photographer, I have been enticed by America’s diversity of culture and landscape. I have crossed its vast terrain by plane, bus, train and car many times - and I am still discovering new places, new stories, and new beauty. The one thing that I am most grateful for is how I have been welcomed to Florida’s diverse communities, where no one looks like me. I simply would not trade these rich experiences for anything else.
The DeLand area images are on permanent display at the Volusia County Courthouse in DeLand, the Winter Park photographs are in the collection of the Winter Park Library, the Winter Garden images are on permanent display at the Maxey Community Center and City Hall in the city of Winter Garden, and the New Smyrna Beach work is part of the Harrell Black Heritage Museum in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
